About CLC

Choir Leadership Council is a group of students representing each of the 6 choirs at EHS. They serve their peers and the community through their respective roles and work to make choir a better place. Anyone who holds a position will automatically receive a Letter Award so long as they fulfill their duties for the entire year and submit the CLC lettering application by the deadline. Read the brief position descriptions below and ask Mrs. Burd any other questions you may have!

All students on CLC are required to attend all monthly meetings and work one concession date per year in addition to their specific duties.

Positions

President

  • Taking attendance at rehearsals, concerts and other events
  • Being the main communication between Mrs. Burd and other choir members
  • Encouraging and holding your choir accountable to expectations (i.e. reminding them of assignments due, sending out concert info, etc.)
  • Keeping track of folder numbers, distributing new music, collecting music, and tabulate fees or fines for missing music
  • Working concessions at a minimum of one Performing Arts event (EMS Choir Concert, Fall Play, Spring Musical, etc.) each semester
  • Leading class when Mrs. Burd isn't there
  • Working with other CLC members to plan events pertaining to choir (i.e. Seniors Last Song, CLC Teacher Appreciation, Erie Idol, etc.)
  • Complete any other duties Mrs. Burd deems necessary for the success of EHS Choir

Section Leader

  • Be incredibly encouraging to other students
  • Identify sections of music that need work
  • Work well with others
  • Organize a minimum of 1 sectionals prior to each concert
  • Hold voice part accountable
  • Communicate problem spots to Mrs. Burd

Vice President

  • Planning a minimum of two social events a semester (must have approval at least two weeks prior to the event from Mrs. Burd)
  • Taking pictures at choir events (such as Fall Festival, Metro St, CU Mad Fest, etc.) and uploading to google photos
  • Working with other CLC members to plan events pertaining to choir (i.e. Seniors Last Song, CLC Teacher Appreciation, Erie Idol, etc.)
  • Assisting the President with duties
  • Complete any other duties Mrs. Burd deems necessary for the success of EHS Choir

Marketing Chair/Senior Class President

  • Creating all announcements pertaining to choir, including (but not limited to) announcements for upcoming Choir Concerts, Auditions, Fundraisers, and Singing Valentines and getting them approved in the main office
  • Spearheading recruitment efforts
  • Sharing choir events on social media and inviting student body to events
  • In charge of Choir Instagram Account
  • Working with other CLC members to plan events pertaining to choir (i.e. Seniors Last Song, CLC Teacher Appreciation Lunch, Erie Idol, etc.)
  • Complete any other duties Mrs. Burd deems necessary for the success of EHS Choir​
  • Senior Class President also plans senior speeches at concerts, senior pops shirt tie-dying, and end of year gifts for directors/accompanist

Applicant Requirements


President

  • CR5 President - minimum 1 year in choir,  must be a junior or senior
  • Topaz President - Minimum 1 year in Choir, must be a sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Concert Choir President - Must be a junior or senior
  • BSB President - Must be sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Treble Choir President - Must be sophomore, junior, or senior

Vice President

  • CR5 VP - Minimum 1 year in choir,  must be a sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Topaz VP - Minimum 1 year in Choir, must be a sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Concert Choir VP - Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior
  • BSB VP - no requirement
  • Treble Choir VP - no requirement

Section Leader

For all choirs - must have strong musicianship skills, be able to detect errors, give starting notes, etc.

Marketing Chair/Senior Class President 

  • Minimum 1 year in choir​
