Thalia Burd has been teaching music in Colorado since 2008 and is in her sixth year as the Choral Director at Erie High School. Originally from Loveland, CO, she graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance and Theater.  She then continued her education at Colorado State University, earning a Master's degree in Music Education and Conducting. Prior to teaching at Erie, Mrs. Burd taught general music at Sacred Heart of Jesus School and choir and theater at Holy Family High School, where she also served as the Arts Director and Department Chair. Mrs. Burd has an extensive theater background and enjoys assisting with vocal music direction for the musicals at EHS. In 2016, she had the privilege of working with renowned theater professionals in London, England at the Globe Theater, where she attended a Continuing Education program called “Teaching Shakespeare Through Performance.” An active member of NAfME and ADCA, Mrs. Burd frequently attends state and regional conferences and professional development clinics. Mrs. Burd served as a Northern Site Governor for the Colorado All State Choir Board for 7 years, is a recipient of the CU Boulder Outstanding Colorado Educator award, and was a finalist for SVVSD Teacher of the Year in 2022. She is also a two-time Harmony University scholarship recipient through the Barbershop Harmony Society on the music educator track. In her free time, she enjoys singing with choirs in Northern Colorado and has been a member of Rocky Mountain Chamber Singers and a founding member of Noco Singers. She lives in Loveland with her wonderful and supportive husband, Simon, and daughter, Zuzu.

Mrs. Litavish

Shelley was born in Long Beach, CA but would consider herself a native Coloradan. She recently moved to Erie with her husband and four kids and their cat "Jasper" (who is hands down the BEST cat in the world, mostly because he thinks he's a dog!). She has been accompanying for many years and has worked for numerous soloists, church choirs and worship teams, high school choirs, and was also the principal accompanist for the Evergreen Children's Chorale for 4 years. She studied Piano Performance at the Wheaton Conservatory of Music, graduated from CU Boulder with a BA in Music, then received her certification at Metro State in Elementary Music Education. She taught K-5 music as well as Harmony Road music courses, and has taught private piano and violin for over 25 years. Shelley has also sung in various choirs including the Evergreen Chorale, the Colorado Chorale, and currently sings with the Colorado Repertory Singers. She loves hiking in the mountains, cooking, going to concerts and musicals, attending Flatirons Church with her family, and most recently, taking swing dance lessons with her husband!

Our Program

Picture

Our quickly growing choir program includes six choirs that perform a variety of repertoire throughout the year. We collaborate with our band and orchestra students, our area middle and elementary schools, as well as the other high schools in our district frequently. Our students love to give back to our school and community by sharing their music and volunteering their time.

Program Highlights
These are in addition to the wonderful opportunities through our district and opportunities for individual singers!
